Anwar Leads Chili Planting at Brigif 1 Jaya Sakti Headquarters

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, led the planting of 3,000 chili seeds and restocking of 10,000 Tilapia fish seeds at Brigif 1 Jaya Sakti Headquarters, Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, Saturday (2/17).

On that occasion, he was accompanied by East Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Diah Anwar; East Jakarta Maritime, Agricultural and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) Head, Suharini Eliawati; Brigif 1 Jaya Sakti Commander, Col. Inf. Dwison Eviyanto; and 10 representatives of East Jakarta Abang None.

According to him, planting chilies and restocking fish seeds are one of the food security programs initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

It was conducted on 3,000-square-meter-empty land cultivated together with residents, PKK cadres, and TNI members as urban farming land.

"Residents also turned out to be very enthusiastic about the urban farming program. The results of planting chili and restocking Tilapia fish can be enjoyed ahead of Ramadan and Idul Fitri," he expressed.

Brigif 1 Jaya Sakti Commander, Col. Inf. Dwison Eviyanto added this urban farming program had indeed been instructed by the leadership at the Jaya Regional Military Command. Coincidentally, at Brigif 1 Jaya Cakti, there is a large area of land that has not been utilized.

"We're collaborating with the Jakarta Government for urban farming complete with nutritional ponds," he explained.

He added the procurement of plant seeds and fish seeds, as well as fertilizer was supported by Kodam Jaya.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati explained it is a follow-up to the synergy that the Acting Governor had established with Kodam Jaya on January 5 in North Jakarta.

Her party would build a green house in the Brigif 1 Jaya Cakti area. But, before that, there must be a farmer group (Poktan) first, as this Poktan will later manage urban farming with support from CSR, such as Bank Indonesia or PT PLN and others.

"This year, the Acting Governor is targeting four million chili seeds to be planted in the community together with PKK cadres," she concluded.
